TotalEnergies in Africa

Our activities in Africa

Africa is at the heart of TotalEnergies’ global strategy. The Company has been present on the continent for over 90 years and today has activities in 43 countries and almost 13 000 employees. Africa represents around 30% of our production (900 kbep/d) and 30% of our investments.

Our production is mostly concentrated in the Gulf of Guinea and North Africa. We are also developing in East Africa, notably in Mozambique and Uganda, but also in South Africa. Numerous projects, such as Egina in Nigeria, Kaombo in Angola or Moho Nord in Congo, demonstrate our technical excellence.

With 4,700 service stations, 17% market share and 4 million clients, TotalEnergies is the leading distributor of oil products on the continent.

We also carried out a solarization program in 38 countries and 5 solar farms in exploitation (2 in Egypt, Burkina Faso, Uganda and South Africa).

Considering the increasing energy demand of a rapidly growing population (2.4 billion people in 2050) and the need to address climate change, our mission is to meet energy needs, all while evolving towards an energy mix that is less and less carbon intensive and towards ever more environmentally responsible operations. Therefore, TotalEnergies aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Through its corporate foundation, TotalEnergies contributes each day to societal programs across the globe. The aim is to contribute to the development of our host regions working alongside local communities, associations, economic partners and governments. Our four priority areas are: road safety, climate and environment, youth inclusion and education, and cultural dialogue and heritage. Our actions showcased by Pathway(s) are guided by the investment in future generations and the determination to build a bright future.
